Lady Bobcats fall to Belpre in tourney

JACKSON — Each team won a half. It just so happened that the Belpre Lady Eagles had the better half.
Belpre built a 1-point first half lead and went on to beat the Green Lady Bobcats 44-30 in the Division 4 district semifinals on Thursday.
Green — coming off its first sectional title since 2009 — outscored Belpre 19-16 in the second half.
Kyna Waderker scored a game-high 22 points to lead Belpre. Halee Williams added 10 points.
Kasey Kimbler and Kame Sweeney scored 10 points each to pace the Lady Bobcats (17-7).
Belpe took a 12-6 first quarter lead as Waderker scored 5 points and Curstin Giffin hit a 3-pointer. Sweeney had 4 points for Green.
Kaitlen Bush hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored all 7 of her points and Waderker had 7 points of her own as the Lady Eagles opened up a 28-11 halftime lead.
Both teams scored 10 points each in the third quarter and it was 38-21.
Kimbler knocked down a pair of trifectas and Sweeney added 3 points for Green while Waderker scored 6 points and Williams 4.
Anna Knapp drained a triple as four different players scored in the fourth quarter and the Lady Bobcats outscored Belpre 9-6.
Waderker had 4 of Belpre’s points in the quarter.
Green finishes the season 17-7.
