JACKSON — The shot wouldn’t fall which is why the Fairland Lady Dragons fell as well.
The Lady Dragons suffered from cold shooting as they lost 54-37 to the Southeastern Lady Panthers on Saturday in the Division 3 sectional finals.
Fairland made just 12-of-52 shots for 23 percent including a dismal 4-of-28 from behind the arc for a mere 14 percent.
The Lady Dragons had three quarters in which they scored in single digits. They scored in double figures in the third quarter when they cut the deficit from 13 points to 10.
Emma Marshall scored 11 points to lead the Lady Dragons. Tomi Hinkle had 8 points and 9 rebounds.
Macie Gravis scored 18 points, Skylar Hice had 15 points including 13-of-14 at the foul line and Cidney Huff added 12 points.
Southeastern took a 13-6 first quarter lead as Graves hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored 8 points while Huff added 4 points. Marshall hit a 3-pointer for Fairland.
Hice connected on 6-of-6 at the foul line and Graves scored 5 points as the Lady Panthers were up 28-15 at the half.
Hinkle scored 6 points including 4-of-4 at the foul line in the quarter.
Fairland finally got some shots to fall in the third quarter as they cut the deficit to 41-31.
Harlie Lyons and Jenna Stone hit 3-pointers, Bailey Roland scored 3 points and Hinkle was 2-of-2 at the line.
Huff hit a 3-pointer and had 5 points while Graves scored 5 points and Hice hit 3-of-4 at the line and scored 5.
Southeastern converted 8-of-10 at the foul line in the fourth quarter to help prevent a comeback by the Lady Dragons.
Marshall scored 8 points and Miaa Howard added a basket for all of Fairland’s scoring in the quarter.
Fairland ends the season 13-11. Southeastern is now 20-4.
