Norma Donathan

Nov. 12, 1932– Jan. 11, 2020

Norma J. Donathan, 87, of Wheelersburg, died Saturday morning, Jan. 11, 2020, at the SOMC Hospice Center.

Born on Nov. 12, 1932 in New Boston, she was a daughter of the late Charles “Mack” Armstrong and Marie Burchett Armstrong and was a well- known greeter at Wal-Mart where she worked for 17 years.

Norma graduated from Glenwood High School in 1950 and had lived in New Boston for 80 years. She worked at a movie theater, where she began her love of popcorn and later began working at the former Williams Manufacturing Company. She was crazy about her Buckeyes!

Also preceding her in death were her husband, James A. Donathan Sr., whom she married on Christmas Day in 1952; a son, Terry Donathan; a daughter, Debbie Donathan Wisnieski; a brother, Ronald Armstrong; and a sister, Bonnie Armstrong.

Surviving are two sons, Jim (Melody) Donathan Jr., of Rigrish Addition, and Todd (Michelle) Donathan, of Wheelersburg; a daughter, Cathy (Tim) Rapp, of Wheelersburg; a brother, Donald (Lilly) Armstrong, of Rosemount; two sisters, Connie Foulk, of Delaware, and Gwen Armstrong; seven grandchildren, Jon (Debbie) Maynard, Brandy (Heath) Campbell, Heather W. (Billy) Moore, Chad Wisnieski, Crystal Jones Bailey, Zane Rapp, and Todd A. (Cathy) Donathan Jr.; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Brant Funeral Home in Sciotoville. Interment will be in Scioto Burial Park. The family will receive guests at Brant’s from 4–7 p.m. on Wednesday.

Cary Fairchild

Nov. 17, 1960– Jan. 4, 2020

Cary B. Fairchild, of Ironton, passed away Saturday, Jan. 4, 2020, at the age of 59.

He was born Nov. 17, 1960, to Kenneth and Phyllis (Plymale) Fairchild. Cary graduated from Ironton High School in 1979 and attended Ohio State University before serving in the U.S. Air Force. He was a longtime member of Central Christian Church.

He is survived by his son, Alex Fairchild; daugh- ter-in-law, Lauren; granddaughter, Camryn; and step-granddaughter, Madison Brown.

He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Fairchild. In addition to his son, he is survived by brother and sister-in-law: Kevin and Valerie Fairchild; sister and brother-in-law, Treva and James Walker; and sister, Stacy Fairchild. He is also survived by Alicia (Stillmunkes) Reinhart and Sage (Stillmunkes) Linn and their families; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be held at Central Christian Church on Saturday at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service. Ministers Jim Williams and Willie Purdee will be officiating.

 

Jeffrey Devaney

Jeffrey Todd Devaney, 52, of Proctorville, died Friday, Jan. 10, 2020 at home. Visitation will be 6–8 p.m. Tuesday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville.

David Wilson

David Allen Wilson, 28, of South Point, died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2020, in UK Medical Center, Lexington, Kentucky. No services will be held.

Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, is assisting the family with arrangements.
