The Ironton Child Welfare Club has announced the participants who took part in its 2019 Eddy Test.

This test is administered to the highest 25 percent of the sixth grade students from Ironton Middle School and St. Lawrence Catholic School, based on state and national testing.

The testing areas concern reading vocabulary, reading comprehension, math problem solving, math computation, language, spelling, science, and social studies.

The highest one-third of the participants, along with their parents, will be honored as Eddy Winners at a banquet hosted by the Ironton Child Welfare Club.

Students from St. Lawrence Catholic School who participated include Aurelian Lewis, daughter of Darius and Brennan Lewis; Addison Murray, daughter of Melissa and Nate Klein and Jennifer and Michael Phelps; Gavin Simpson, son of Brent and Jennie Simpson; and Ian Whaley, son of Andy and M’lissa Whaley.

The Ironton Child Welfare Club established this program 59 years ago, and it remains the longest continuous project of the club.

The Eddy Award was established to identify students who attain superior academic performance in the sixth grade.
