HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — The Fairland Dragons weren’t at their best, but it was still good enough.
The Dragons had 13 turnovers and made only 6-of-15 free throws but still managed to beat the Huntington Highlanders 49-37 on Thursday.
Aiden Porter had 17 points, Jordan Williams pulled down 11 rebounds and had 4 assists while Clayton Thomas got 5 assists as the Dragons stayed unbeaten through six games.
Joe Patterson had 9 points to pace Huntington.
Amare Smith had 4 points and Eli Archer and Torin Lochow hit 3-pointers as Huntington took a 10-6 first quarter lead.
But the Dragons came to life in the second quarter as Porter nailed a pair of 3-pointers and scored 8 points while Thomas hit a 3-pointer and added 5 points to give Fairland a 25-19 halftime advantage.
Porter hit another trey and had 5 points while Thomas got a 3-pointer and the Dragons extended their lead to 35-27 after three quarters.
Tevin Taylor came off the bench to score 6 of his 8 points and Porters had 4 points as Fairland sealed the outcome.
The Dragons did manage to make 6-of-11 from the foul line in the fourth quarter.
Huntington was made just 4-of-5 free throws for the game.
Fairland plays at Bishop Ready on Saturday.
