PND gets win over Lady Flyers

PORTSMOUTH — The Portsmouth Notre Dame Lady Titans know how to get their work done early.
For the second straight night, the Lady Titans jumped out to a big first half lead and then coasted to a win as they beat the St. Joseph Lady Flyers 54-23 in a Southern Ohio Conference game on Thursday.
“Notre Dame is just a really good team. They just beat us,” said Lady Flyers’ coach Bart Burcham.
“Hopefully, we learned something and we’ll go back to work and move on.”
Notre Dame (6-0, 4-0) bolted to a 28-7 first quarter lead Ava Hassel scored 7 points and Taylor Schmidt and Lauren Campbell had 6 points each.
The Lady Titans outscored the Lady Flyers 17-4 in the second quarter Hassel hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored 8points and Claire Dettwiller scored all 6 of her points and it was 41-11 at the half.
Hassell finished with 17 points and Schmidt got 12.
Faith Mahlmeister had 7 points and 4 rebounds while Bella Whaley grabbed 8 rebounds and Gracie Damron pulled down 7 more.
St. Joseph visits New Boston on Monday.
