Pearl Harbor commemoration set for Saturday
GRAYSON — A Pearl Harbor commemoration will take place on Saturday at Northeast Kentucky Veterans Cemetery.
The event set for 1 p.m. will feature speakers, ROTC from area schools and a missing man ceremony.
The observance has been organized by Delores Sarpas for the past four years, beginning with the 75th anniversary of the attack in 2016.
Sarpas said, this year, she will be doing it with the Poage chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and hopes that national and state officers from DAR will be there.
Sarpas said this will be her final year organizing the event, but it will be taken over by the Marine Corps League, Greenbo Detachment 1345.
“It don’t want to let it die,” she said. “People need to remember Pearl Harbor.”
The Kentucky Northeast Veterans Cemetery is located at 180 Eastpark Dr., just off the Industrial Parkway on the Boyd-Greenup County line.
