Emogene Lynd

Dec. 1, 1927 – Nov. 30, 2019

Emogene L. Lynd, 91, of Ironton, passed away on Nov. 30, 2019.

Born Dec. 1, 1927, in Ironton, to Curtis and Emma A. Whitt Justice, Emogene was a lifelong member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leland Lynd; three brothers, Paul Justice, Emerson Justice and Frank Justice; and two sisters, Arlene Blair and Martha Allen.

Surviving are a sister, Lois Snead, of California; sister-in-law, Shelba (Paul) Linsmayer, of Kettering; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home. Visitation is one hour prior to the service. Clayton Glenn will be officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, section 18.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Ironton.

Sharon Harper

Dec. 14, 1943 – Nov. 30, 2019

Sharon K. Harper, 75, of Ironton, passed away Saturday, Nov. 30, 2019, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital. The Ashland, Kentucky native was born Dec. 14, 1943, the daughter of the late Ernest Edward Collins and Dora Nolte Collins. She is survived by her husband, Merrell “Doc” Harper, whom she married on April 4, 1978.

Mrs. Harper was a graduate of Paul Blazer High School and a former beautician for Nancy Lee’s Hair Salon. She was a member of Campbell Chapel Church and also enjoyed cooking, reading, going to the beach, and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by a great grandson, Keidan Bean and a sister, Penny McKenzie.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Nancy (Ronnie) Bishop, of Coal Grove, Teresa (Mike) Rife, of Ironton, and Carla Maddy, of Ironton; two sons, Darren (Dee) Berger, of Snow Camp, North Carolina, and Merrell (Juanita) Harper Jr., of Kitts Hill; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren

Funeral services will be 1p.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. Seventh St., Ironton, with Rev. Steve Harvey officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland, Kentucky. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Mary Geer

Mary Jane Geer, 61, of Huntington, West Virginia, passed away Saturday, Nov. 30, 2019, at Cabell -Huntington Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia.

Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Jim Wells at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Schneider-Hall Funeral Home in Chesapeake. Visitation will be held from 5 – 7 p.m. prior to the funeral service.

Paul David Cook, 68, of Ironton, died on Friday Nov. 29, 2019, at the Sanctuary of the Ohio Valley in Ironton.

In keeping with his wishes, he will be cremated.

Memorial donations should be directed to your favorite veteran’s charity. His family has entrusted his care to the Taylor-Brown family of the Brown Funeral Chapel.

Sharon Kirby

Sharon Kirby, 61 of South Webster, died on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2019, at Adena Hospital in Chillicothe.

In keeping with her family’s wishes, she will be cremated.

Memorial donations should be directed to the family or to Brown Funeral Chapel to help with final expenses. Her family has entrusted her care to the Taylor- Brown family of Brown Funeral Chapel.

William Pitts

William H. “Bill” Pitts, 98, of South Point, died on Saturday Nov. 30, 2019.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Schneider-Hall Funeral Home Chesapeake. Burial will follow in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington, West Virginia. Visitation will be 10 – 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Helen Lorene Anderson, 87, of Ironton, died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2019 at Our Lady of Bellfonte Hospital in Kentucky.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Anderson.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. Seventh St., Ironton, with visitation from noon until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery.

Roger Lee McCarty Sr., 69, of South Point, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2019.

Funeral service 1 p.m. Wednesday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point. Burial in Miller Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 6 – 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
