If you’re driving back from the Ashland Town Center into Ironton today after some Black Friday shopping, you may see some familiar faces standing along the road.
Members of the American Legion Post 433 will be out doing their annual collection drive, at intersection of Marion Pike and South Third Street in Coal Grove.
They will be taking donations to buy Christmas items for veterans in nursing homes throughout Lawrence County.
The Legion puts together a wish list from five nursing homes and tries to meet the needs of residents, buying items such as sweat suits, clothes, TVs and stereos.
The group collects for about 70 veterans and the gifts are delivered on the Saturday before Christmas.
So, if you plan to be in that area, or want to drive down, here’s a reminder to be be sure to have a little cash or change in your car for this worthy cause.
And, if you can not make it, donations can be sent to the post headquarters at 310 S. Third St., Ironton, OH 45638.
