On Sunday, the Ironton Area Ministerial Association will be having its annual Community Thanksgiving Service at 6 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 101 N. Fifth St., Ironton.
The message will be delivered by Pastor David Amos of the new Impact Church.
Music for the event will be by the Ironton High School Varsity singers, which will be led by its new director, Katy King-Moore, who took over at the beginning of this school year.
“Her main goals are to showcase a group of talented young adults, while respectfully representing our school and community, and to have fun while they are at it,” said Rob Hale, pastor of the Ironton First Church of the Nazarene and president of the Ironton Area Ministerial Association. “She participated in the Varsity Singers as a student here many years ago.”
“This is my first year ever working with a choir. I want the students to be proud of the work they do,” King-Moore said. “I want them to invite their friends and family to our shows, and mainly, I want teens who are about to be fully immersed in a harsh world to remember that sometimes things aren’t so bad if you stop and sing a song.”
The community is invited to the Community Thanksgiving Service and refreshments will be served with a time of fellowship afterwards.
