Today marks the first day of the second Wizardfest in downtown Ironton.

This time round, organizers have expanded from the event from the Ro-Na Theater into the city center and the old Staley Pharmacy building.

Also this year, organizers have secured three actors from the Potterverse movies.

Last year, more than 3,000 people from several states attended the event, making it one of largest draws for the city this side of the annual Ironton Lawrence County memorial Day Parade, and this year looks to be even bigger.

The growth of Wizardfest is a remarkable feat in such a short time.

Downtown business owners have cleaned up and painted the facades in preparation for event and the area of the festival looks great.

We commend all involved in preparing and organizing this festival, which has quickly turned into a huge benefit for the city.
