With fall comes the end of the growing season and the end of the Ironton Farmer’s Market for the year.

This Friday and Saturday will be the final days of the market until next spring.

“We hope the weather is nice and everyone who enjoys our vendors will come out and thank them for what they do. They are there rain, cold, wind and feeling-bad days,” said Sam Heighton, the market manager and the executive director of Ironton aLive, which puts on the Ironton Farmers Market. “I want to thank the shoppers and the vendors for your support. This makes seven summers we have spent together and it’s been a pleasure.”

He said the seventh season of the farmer’s market went well.

“It was good. We had some different things. We had the Ironton in Bloom with free food that always brought people in,” Heighton said. “We had some new vendors in and that is always good.”

The Ironton Farmers Market is held at Market Square on Second Street in Ironton on Friday and Saturday from 7 a.m.-3 p.m. or until vendors sell out. The market’s vendors are from Lawrence County and surrounding counties and they offer a variety of goods from seasonal produce like gourds and pumpkins, baked goods, honey, eggs, homemade candy, homemade crafts and flowers.

“Come out this weekend and thank the vendors,” Heighton said. “Everybody works together, we can’t have the customers without the vendors and we can’t have the vendors without the customers.”

The Ironton Farmers Market is a project of Ironton aLive and sponsored by Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital. It will reopen next May.
