Lady Flyers battle but fall to Lady Vikings

The wins aren’t there, but the will to win is still strong in the St. Joseph Lady Flyers.
The Lady Flyers faced a solid Symmes Valley Lady Vikings volleyball team on Thursday and the two teams battled through four sets with the Lady Vikings winning the Southern Ohio Conference game 24-26, 25-10, 25-22 and 25-20.
St. Joseph’s lone senior — Faith Mahlmeister — has six kills, six aces, one assist and five digs to lead the team effort.
“We had some pretty great moments. The girls fought hard. I just wish we could have finished with a win,” said Lady Flyers’ assistant coach Rachel Harries.
“Faith did a great job tonight and had a pretty solid all-around performance. She has been a job to coach and she really has a bright future.”

Emma Whaley three digs; Jade DeGiorgio one kill and 12 digs; Chloe Sheridan 11 assists and 11 digs; Gracie Damron one kill, one assist, one dig one solo block and two block assists; Bella Whaley one block assist, two assists, and eight digs; Emilee Blankenship two aces, one kill and one dig; Emilee Blankenship two aces, one kill and one dig; Jadyn Green seven kills, one block assist and 16 digs.
St. Joseph played at Huntington St. Joe on Friday and will travel to Symmes Valley at 6 p.m. on Monday in the Division IV sectional tournament.
