Will benefit domestic violence shelter
For the third year, the Lawrence County Domestic Violence Shelter will be hosting its lip sync battle to raise funds for their efforts.
“It’s just a fun event we’re doing and it brings the community together,” Elizabeth Bell, shelter advocate said. “The mayor will be doing it, and the chief of police, the clerk of courts and county commissioners.”
She said they are still accepting entries for the event from officials and business leaders.
“It raises awareness of domestic violence and it’s a chance to have a big event to promote that,” Bell said.
The event is inspired by the popular segment on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,” which was spun off into its own competition TV series.
The competition is scheduled for Saturday, July 27 at Ironton High School in the school’s auditorium.
Door will open at 6:30 p.m. and the event begins at 7 p.m.
Tickets will be $15 for adults and $5 for students. For more information, contact the shelter at 740-532-7111.
