PEDRO — It’s hard to pick a highlight in this kind of game.
And then, maybe you can.
Kylee Howard pitched a two-hitter and the Rock Hill Redwomen had 13 hits in a 15-0 five-inning Ohio Valley Conference win over the Chesapeake Lady Panthers on Wednesday.
Those are good highlights, but the biggest moment came in the second inning.
Freshman Tori Adkins pinch-hit in the second inning and got her first career varsity hit: a two-run home run over the left-centerfield fence.
Besides Adkins, Makenzie Hanshaw was 2-3 with two runs batted in, Aleigha Matney was 2-2 with a triple and two RBI, Baylie Harrah 2-2 and an RBI, and Kelsey Olderham was 2-3 with a double and an RBI.
Howard stuck out seven and did not walk a batter to get the win.
Rock Hill (12-5, 6-5) got four runs in the first inning.
Grace Stevens led off with a single and Rileigh Morris followed with an RBI triple. Howard reached on an error, Hanshaw, Harrah, Matney and Olderham all followed with singles.
The Redwomen exploded for nine runs in the second to lead 13-0.
Stevens and Morris walked, Hanshaw, Keilie Adams and Harrah all singled and Matney cleared the bases with a triple.
Olderham doubled and Delong had an RBI single. Adkins then unloaded her pinch-hit home run to cap the rally.
The final two runs scored in the third.
Hanshaw and Adams were hit by a pitch and scored when Delong reached on an error.
