FRANKLIN FURNACE — Tanner Kimbler’s jersey has the number 2 on the front and back. He probably should change the jersey number to “0.”
Kimbler pitched another shutout on Friday as the Green Bobcats blanked the Eastern Eagles 7-0 in a Southern Ohio Conference game.
The shutout was the ninth of the season for Green pitchers. Kimbler has only give up one run all season and it was unearned.
“Our pitching was good. We got another shutout,” said Green coach Dan McDavid. “Tanner Kimbler had a whale of a night. He had 15 strikeouts, only one walk and had a big game at the plate.”
Green had 13 hits but left 13 runners on base. Kimbler went 3-4 with a double, triple and two runs batted in.
Eli Webb was 3-4 with a double, Bryce Ponn 2-2 with a triple and Levi Singleton was 2-3.
“We got runners on base but we left them stranded. We left two or three runners on almost every inning,” said McDavid.
Green (15-1, 7-0) got a run in the first inning when Webb doubled and Kimbler had an RBI single.
The Bobcats then erupted for six runs in the second inning.
Trevor Darnell singled, Ethan Carpenter put down a sacrifice bunt, and Webb singled in the run.
Kimbler followed with an RBI triple and he scored on Tayte Carver’s sacrifice fly and it was xx.
Ponn and Singleton singled for a run, Mason Barber doubled and Caden Brammer had a two-run single.
