AID — Now that’s the way to do it.
The Symmes Valley Vikings combined pitching and clutch hitting to beat the Western Indians 14-3 in a Southern Ohio Conference game on Thursday.
Devin Renfroe provided the pitching and Logan Justice and Levi Niece the clutch hits to lead the Vikings.
“Devin threw the ball well and we played better. We still have a lot of work to do, but it was an improvement,” said Vikings’ coach Chad Renfroe.
Devin Renfroe struck out nine, walked three and did not allow an earned run as he got the win.
Justice was 2-2 with three runs batted in and Niece 2-3 with four RBI to lead the offense.
The Vikings parlayed 12 walks and two hit batsmen with five hits to generate their 14 runs.
Ethan Patterson singled, stole second and scored on an error.
The lead went to 2-0 in the second when Justice walked, stole second and third and came home on a throwing error.
Symmes Valley used five walks and two-run singles by Niece and Justice to score six runs in the third and make it 8-1.
The Vikings got six more runs in the bottom of the fourth.
Five walks, two hit batsmen and a two-run single by Niece and an RBI single by Justice provided the scoring output.
