AID — And the Bobcats keep rolling along.
Green used good pitching and hitting to blank the Symmes Valley Vikings 12-0 in a five-inning Southern Ohio Conference game on Wednesday.
The win makes the Bobcats 14-1 overall and still atop the SOC at 6-0.
“We pretty well. We were a little flat early, but we picked it up and played good defense,” said Green coach Dan McDavid. “We just took care of business and did what we needed to do.”
Bryce Ponn pitched a two-hitter over the five innings. He struck out six and walked three. Ponn also went 2-4 with a double at the plate.
Levi Singleton was 3-4 with a double and three runs batted in as Green had 12 hits. Tanner Kimbler was 2-4.
After a scoreless first inning, Green got three runs in the second.
Ponn, Singleton, Trevor Darnell and Ethan Carpenter all singled for two runs and a throwing error on a pickoff play scored the third run.
Green made it 6-0 in the third.
Kimbler singled, stole second and third, and came home when Ponn reached on an error. Ponn went to second on the play and scored on Singleton’s base hit.
Mason Barber, Darnell and Carpenter all walked to force in a run.
The Bobcats added a run in the fourth when Kimbler reached on an error, stole second, took third on a ground out and scored when Singleton grounded out.
Green put the game away with five runs in the fifth.
Caden Brammer was hit by a pitch, Wiley Sanders singled and Eli Webb had an RBI single.
Kimbler followed with an RBI single and the runners moved up on a wild pitch. Tayte Carver hit a sacrifice fly and then Ponn doubled home a run.
The final run scored when Singleton doubled home Ponn.
Levi Niece was 1-2 and Nick Strow 1-2 with a double for the Vikings.
