SOUTH WEBSTER — There’s an old saying in baseball that you get them on, get them over and get them in.
The Green Bobcats got them on and then just wait and let Bryce Ponn get them in.
Ponn went 3-for-3 with a double, home run and six runs batted in as Green beat the South Webster Jeeps 10-0 in five innings on Tuesday.
Ponn is now batting almost .600 on the season with 25 RBI in just nine games.
Tanner Kimbler tossed the shutout as he threw a two-hitter with six strikeouts and no walks.
“Tanner threw a great game and helped himself by going 3-4,” said Green coach Dan McDavid.
“Bryce Ponn had a big game. He’s been swinging a hot bat all year and continued tonight. He’s our cleanup hitter and we get on base and he knocks them in.”
Green (8-1) used nine hits, seven walks and one hit batsman to generate the 10 runs.
The Bobcats took a 2-0 lead with two outs in the first when Tayte Carver reached on an error and Ponn nailed a two-run homer.
Eli Webb led off the third with a walk, Kimbler and Carver singled for a run. Carver stole second and Ponn had a two-run single for a 5-0 lead.
Green added a run in the fourth when Kimbler singled, stole and came home on a hit by Levi Singleton.
The Bobcats put the game away with four runs in the fifth.
Trevor Darnell walked, Ethan Carpenter was hit by a pitch, both moved up on a wild pitch and Kimbler had a two-run double.
Carver followed with a walk and Ponn capped the scoring with a two-run double.
Singleton was 2-4.
