Lady Dragons topple Lady Panthers in OVC

PROCTORVILLE — The Fairland Lady Dragons might be good dancers. They certainly know how to keep in step.
The Lady Dragons did their part to remain tied for the Ohio Valley Conference lead as they beat the Chesapeake Lady Panthers 47-25 on Monday.
Fairland is 16-3 overall and 11-2 in the OVC, tied with Coal Grove. Each team has one league game remaining on Thursday. Fairland hosts Rock Hill and Coal Grove entertains South Point.
The game started slow offensively with Chesapeake (8-13, 5-8) going up 4-3.
But the Lady Dragons pulled away to a 21-13 lead at the half as Emma Marshall scored all seven of her points including a 3-pointer and sister Allie Marshall had six points.
Blake Anderson scored five points in the quarter for Chesapeake.
The Lady Dragons opened the game up in the third quarter by going ahead 35-17 behind Allie Marshall’s eight points.
Jessica King came off the bench to score six points in the fourth quarter while Kelsie Warnock hit a 3-pointer and scored four points.
Corrine Ferguson had four points of the Lady Panthers’ eight points in the quarter.
Allie Marshall led all scorers with 15 points. Warnock finished with eight points.
Anderson led Chesapeake with seven points.
On Thursday, Chesapeake hosts Gallipolis.
