Jackie Lambert

May 27, 1962 — Jan. 15, 2019

Jackie Kay (Layne) Lambert, 56, of Kitts Hill, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2019, at St. Mary’s ER, Ironton. The Lawrence County native was born May 27, 1962, to the late Fred and Rachel (McFann) Leffingwell. She is survived by her loving husband, John Lambert, whom she married in 1980.
Jackie graduated from Rock Hill High School and received her bachelor’s degree in communication from Ohio University Southern. She was a homemaker and was a huge Steelers fan, Travis Tritt fan and loved spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by two daughters, Stacey Anson, of Ashland, Kentucky, and Shelby Lambert, of Kitts Hill; two sons, Jayson Lambert, of Kitts Hill, and Michael Lambert, of Huntington, West Virginia; a sister, Joanne Miller, of Ironton; a brother, Rodney Layne, of Wellston; five grandchildren, Tonia Spencer, Caitlin Barrett, Skyler Barrett, Baker Anson and Bellamy Anson; and one great-grandchild, Brayden Spencer.
In addition to her parents, Jackie is preceded in death by a brother, Roger Layne.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with pastor Mike Long officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home.

 

Jerry Gibson

Feb. 18, 1942 — Jan. 13, 2019

Jerry Allen Gibson, 76, passed away Sunday, Jan. 13, 2019, at Huntington Hospice. He was born Feb. 18, 1942, to the late Shade and Grace Johnson Gibson. He was also preceded in death by 22 siblings.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Mary Jean Acquista, whom he married in October 1986; his beloved companion, Tazor; two sons, Jerry (Carolyn) Gibson Jr. and Mark (Elisa) Gibson; four grandchildren, Andrew (Melissa) Gibson, Megan Gibson, Nathan (Felicia) Gibson and Dustan Gibson; two great-grandchildren, Shade Gibson and Maverick Gibson; brother-in-law, Rusty Mittendorf; niece, Sara (Sam) Schwed; nephew, Chris Mittendorf; many other nieces, nephews and cousins; and special extended family, John (Jona) Younce and Cortni Clark. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends and all of his law enforcement family.
He was a member of the Ironton Elks 177 and a proud member of the U.S. Marine Corps. He served as a law enforcement officer for 47 years as a Cabell County Sheriff’s officer, South Point Police Department and Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department. He will be fondly remembered for his jokes, stories and huge sense of humor.
A memorial mass will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Ironton, with Fr. David Huffman officiating. Family will receive friends at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. Committal will be in Woodland Cemetery, section 17, Ironton. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Lawrence Church, 905 S. Fifth St., Ironton, OH 45638, or to the Law Enforcement K9 Association, 101 Center Park Ct., Springboro, OH 45066. Ironton VFW Post 8850 will perform military graveside honors.

 

Charles Roche

June 24, 1967 — Jan. 11, 2019

Charles “Chuck” Roche, 51, passed away Friday, Jan. 11, 2019, from a massive heart attack. Chuck was born in New York on June 24, 1967, to the late Thomas and Helen Roche.
He graduated from Symmes Valley High School in 1985.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Sammy Jo; his siblings, Mike Roche, of Willow Wood, Cindy Olary, of Columbus, Jacquie (John) Schmittauer, of Delaware, Ohio, Maria Brumfield, of South Point, Pam (David) Conrad, of South Point, and Ed Roche, of Willow Wood; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Chuck was a hard working, caring father and friend who would move mountains for anyone who asked him.
