ASHLAND, Ky. — The Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers might want to up their health insurance.
Ironton began the season without leading scorer and rebounder Lexie Arden who is out with a ACL injury.
Starting center Samantha LaFon has been out the past three games with an injury and Lydia Hannan — who scored six points — left the game in the first quarter with a possible concussion.
Add to that the Lady Tigers only hit 11-of-35 shots for 31.4 percent, and it was easy to see why they lost 44-25 to the Ashland Kittens on Monday.
Ironton lead 9-6 when Ashland went on a 7-0 run to close the quarter and lead 13-9.
The Lady Tigers fell behind 25-17 at the half and fell behind 30-17 with 6:40 left in the third quarter.
Ironton cut the gap to 11 points but could not get any closer and trailed 34-21 at the end of the quarter.
Elli Williams had eight points and five rebounds to lead Ironton (4-2).
Morgan Bradley had nine points and Emma Fulton eight for Ashland (5-2).
Ironton is at Chillicothe on Thursday and hosts Warren on Saturday in the Ironton Classic.
