Second quarter proves costly to Lady Dragons

SIDNEY — The start was a little cold.
The Fairland Lady Dragons were just 14-of-40 from the field including 5-of-22 from the 3-point line as they lost 51-38 to the Fort Loramie Redskins in the Shelby County Classic on Saturday.
Neither team shot well. While Fairland was only 34 percent the Lady Redskins shot 38 percent from the floor.
Fairland led 11-8 after the first quarter only to have Fort Loramie outscore the Lady Dragons 18-8 in the second quarter to lead 26-19 at the half.
The Lady Dragons cut the deficit to 38-33 after three quarters, but Fort Loramie outscored Fairland 13-5 in the fourth quarter to win going away.
Britney Thompson, Allie Marshall and Harley Lyons scored 8 points each for Fairland (0-1).
Warnock had 10 rebounds and four assists while Marshall had seven rebounds and two steals.
Marissa Meiring had 14 points while Kenzie Hoelscher and Macy Imwalle scored 10 each to lead the Lady Redskins.
Fairland hosts Ironton on Monday.
