Coming together for good

For the fourth year in a row, people from Lawrence County will take part in the State of Ohio’s Steady U’s “10 Million Steps to Prevent Falls” program.
The event, set for 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday at the Ironton Farmers Market, is part of Falls Prevention month in September and helps to raise awareness of the problem of falls among the elderly and the side effects that can come with them.
This year’s event is organized by Community Home Health Care and will also include students from six of the seven school districts in the county, as well as Sugar Creek Academy and Collins Career Technical School.
For the past two years in particular, Lawrence County, despite its small size and population, has been a leader in the effort.
The county again logged the most steps of the 88 counties in Ohio in 2017.
We hope that Friday’s event will help spread the message and help to prevent falls among the elderly, and we commend those who are organizing and taking part in this event.
