Dr. Gary Plymale
Nov. 7, 1945 — Sept. 13, 2018
Gary Lee Plymale, D.D.S., 72, of Homosassa, Florida, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 13, 2018, at his home. A native of Ironton, he was born Nov. 7, 1945, to the late Norman “Tim” James and Joseph Etta (Creech) Plymale, one of six children.
A graduate of Ironton High School, Gary served his country honorably and proudly in the United States Air Force from 1963-1967. Gary graduated from the University of Indiana in dentistry with honors, and subsequently obtained a Masters in Prosthodontics.
He moved to Homosassa in 2008 from Indianapolis, Indiana, and retired in 2015 from his position as Professor of Dentistry and Prosthodontics at the University of Florida in Gainesville, where he also held his private practice.
Dr. Plymale was an avid golfer who also loved to fish. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Homosassa.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Plymale; a sister, Joan Nicholas; sister-in-law, Glenna Gannon Plymale; and two brothers-in-law, Dr. Kenny Fairchild and Clay Conrad.
Gary is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Susan Plymale, of Homosassa, Florida; sons, Robert (Heather) Martin, of Mechanicsville, Virginia, and Steve Martin (Peggy), of Jacksonville, Florida; siblings, Phyllis Fairchild, of Ironton, Carolyn Conrad, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and attorney Richard “Dick” Plymale, of Lexington, Kentucky; grandchildren, Meghan and Morgan Martin, of Crystal River, Florida, Emalee and Clair Martin, of Mechanicsville, Virginia, and Connor Sidman, of Jacksonville, Florida; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services at First United Methodist Church of Homosassa and military honors at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida, will be announced soon. In lieu of flowers, Gary’s family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice in his memory. Charles Payne

Charles E. Payne, 78, of South Point, passed away Friday, Sept. 14, 2018, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia. He was born Oct. 18, 1939, in Kitts Hill, a son of the late Charles W. and Eva Humphrey Payne.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma McCann Payne; and a sister, Belinda Gabbbert Richardson.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, owner and operator of Char-Cal Inc., and attended Solida Baptist Church.
Charles is survived by his daughter, Kim (Howard) Curtis, of South Point; his son, Rick (Pam) Payne, of South Point; a sister, Hilda Friend, of Pedro; a brother, Calvin (Betty) Payne, of Pedro; three grandchildren, Crystal Curtis, Tyler Payne and Tara Morrison; one great-grandchild, Abby Morrison; several nieces and nephews; and his buddy, Tiki.
Friends may visit from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with pastor Aaron Childers officiating. Allen Clutters
June 24, 1957 — Sept. 15, 2018
Allen Eugene Clutters, 61, of Hanging Rock, passed away at his home Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018. The Ironton native was born June 24, 1957, a son of the late George and Jackie Crance Clutters. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Janice Kilgore Clutters, whom he married July 16, 1977.
Allen attended Rock Hill High School and was a former Mason. Allen attended New Valley Missionary Baptist Church, where he was an active member. He loved to watch his grandkids play football, basketball, baseball and softball and enjoyed riding motorcycles and hunting.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jacqueline Stapleton; and two brothers, Jimmy Clutters and Adam Clutters.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Butch (Jennifer) Cluters, of Oak Hill; Nicholas (Tamara) Clutters, of Franklin Furnace, and Joey (Lee Ann) Clutters, of Pedro; 11 grandchildren, Chelsea Clutters, Bayley Clutters, Nathan Clutters, Brigham Clutters, Sidnee Clutters, Alexandria Fields, Kaleb LaFollette, Shaylee Clutters, Gabe Clutters, Gage Clutters and Nick (Mandy) Clutters; four great-grandchildren, Carson, Bentley, Carly and Leah; two brothers, George Clutters, of Coal Grove, and Curtis Clutters, of Ironton; and two sisters, Judy Bridges, of Andis, and Patricia Taylor, of Ironton.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with pastor Larry Comer officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, and visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.
