Tribune to end Monday edition

News will be posted online
There will no longer be print editions of The Ironton, Proctorville and Chesapeake Tribune on Mondays, starting Sept. 17.
The Tribune will publish a print edition Tuesday through Friday, plus a weekend edition that will be delivered on Saturdays.
“Over the past few months, our team has worked diligently to be focused on community news, local schools, and daily events that have an effect on the customers who live in our coverage area,” Ironton newspaper president and publisher Scott Schmeltzer said. “We have learned and want to continue our focus on more interaction with our customers, both online and through social media channels. We want to deliver our product to more customers in areas where they are living and consuming news and information.”
“Finding the right balance moving into the future is important for us,” Schmeltzer said. “This change will provide a sustainable financial future for The Tribune to continue to inform our readers with content that is relevant and impactful to their lives. Our staff is as committed as ever to bringing our readers the news, no matter what the format. We love our newspaper, we love going to the mailbox and feeling the paper in our hands, and we know this will be a hard change for some of our readers. It is also hard to ignore the incredible growth we are seeing with our online and social media audience.”
The Tribune team will still be working Mondays to cover any important breaking news and to post it online. Obituaries submitted over the weekend by area funeral homes will also be posted on Mondays to the website and in our print edition on Tuesdays. All other departments at the paper will be staffed normally on Mondays, and the office will be open as always from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
We encourage print subscribers to sign up for online access to the newspaper’s e-edition and to register to get e-mailed alerts on breaking news stories.
Our newspaper is committed to giving the community as much local news as before. The Tribune produces three daily newspapers, The Ironton Tribune, The Chesapeake Tribune, and The Proctorville Tribune, as well as Tri-State Living magazine.
