Doris Allen
Sept. 20, 1932 — Aug. 3, 2018
Doris (Alston) Lyons Allen, 85, of Ironton, passed away Friday, Aug. 3, 2018, at her residence. The De Quincy, Louisiana native was born Sept. 20, 1932, to the late Roy Alston and Bertha May Henegan. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Allen.
Doris attended school in De Quincy, Louisiana. She was a housewife and a member and volunteer for her church, Trinity Assembly of God in Coal Grove, where she worked collecting clothes and at the food bank. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by a daughter, Deenna (Jesse) Ogg, of Midway, Texas; a son, Alvin (Dianna) Lyons, of Ironton; two stepsons, Danny (Michelle) Allen, of Ironton, and Kelley (Hillary) Allen, of Florida; a grandson, Jaye Lyons, of Ironton; two sisters, Bardie (Bill) Stanley and Judy Barroe, both of De Quincy, Louisiana; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a son, Roger Lyons; a daughter, Connie McCormick; three brothers, Junior Alston, Kenneth Ray Alston and Joe Alston; and a sister, Charlotte Markintail.
A memorial service will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with pastor Darrell Ford officiating. Visitation will be 4 p.m. until the time of the service Tuesday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made to the Allen family by visiting www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.
Lawrence Jewell

Lawrence “Larry” Jewell, 85, of Ironton, passed away Friday, Aug. 3, 2018, at Harbor Health Care, Ironton. The Ironton native was born Sept. 6, 1932, the son of the late Lawrence and Georgia Jewell. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Jewell, who passed away May 16, 2010.
Larry was a graduate of Ironton Schools and a member of Ice Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Ironton. He was a United States veteran in the National Guard, and spent his life working in law enforcement, auto parts and EMA as an assistant deputy director. Golfing was also one of his favorite past times.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jean; and a brother, Gary.
He is survived by a daughter, Teresa Easterling, of Coal Grove; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ed and Valerie Jewell, of Ironton, and Dale and Jami Jewell, of Coal Grove; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with pastor Todd Warner officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point. Richard St. Onge
Aug. 19, 1941 — Aug. 3, 2018
Richard A. “Dickie” St. Onge, 76, of Coal Grove, passed away Friday, Aug. 3, 2018, at the Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, Kentucky. The Ishpeming, Michigan native was born Aug. 19, 1941, the son of the late Joseph A. St. Onge and Concetta C. Carello St. Onge.
Dickie was a former employee of the Wayne National Forest and Ironton McDonald’s. He was of the Catholic faith and attended Community Tabernacle Church in Coal Grove.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Albert D. St. Onge; and a brother-in-law, Donald Thompson.
He is survived by a brother, William James St. Onge, of Saltville, West Virginia; and three sisters, Judy (Jerry) Fleeman, of North Chesterfield, Virginia, Helen M. Thompson, of Coal Grove, and Jean (Henry) Floyd, of Sarasota, Florida.
