Audrey Malone

Audrey Miller Malone, 88, of Pedro, departed this life on Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2018. She was the widow of Lawrence Malone, who passed to his heavenly home in 2010. She was the daughter of the late Thomas H. and Jestie Yates Miller.
Audrey graduated from Decatur Washington High School and Ohio University, after which she taught in the Decatur-Washington and Rock Hill districts for 35-plus years, retiring in 2007. She was a member of Slabfork United Methodist Church, and loved her church family and serving there. Audrey and Lawrence had 64 wonderful years together before his death.
In addition to her parents and husband, Audrey was preceded in death by an infant baby girl, Patricia Jane Malone; two sisters, Marie Richendollar and Georgia Miller; and two brothers, Bennie (Dorothy) Miller and Forest (Emogene) Miller.
Family togetherness was a priority, beginning with her loving, caretaking sons and their wives, Lawrence Wayne and Jackie Malone, of Dayton, and Micharl R. and Anna Malone, of Pedro; five dear grandchildren and spouses survive, Vanessa (Swain) Tedder, Michelle (Joe) Curran, of Dayton, and Kristen (Chad) Ratliff, Jessica (Zach) French, and Michael (Autumn) Malone, all of Pedro; five great-grandchildren, Kaitlin (Dylan) Fowler, Jackson, Ethan and Owen Tedder, Samuel, Patrick and Paxton Curran, Mason and Colton Ratliff, Braydon and Brody French, Mycah and Gavin Carter, and Jonah Andrew Malone; and one great-grandson, Brady Fowler.
Also surviving are nieces, Agnes Knipp and Dianne Henderson; nephews, Don, Wilbert and John Miller; and her neighbors, the Blagg family.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with pastors Clyde Pennington and the Rev. Dr. Deron Newman officiating. Burial will follow in Slabfork Cemetery and visitation will be noon until the time of the service Sunday at the funeral home.
