CG youth basketball
camp to be July 11-13
The Coal Grove Hornets’ youth basketball camp for grades 1-8 will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday through Friday, July 11-13, at the high school gym.
Registration will begin at 8 a.m. Each camper will receive a T-shirt. Fee is $30.

OHSAA offers classes
to be volleyball official
Persons wanting to become an Ohio High School Athletic Association volleyball officials may begin the proper procedure at this time.
Persons should contact Jack Welz at (740) 532-9415. The first class will be Monday, July 9.
This year, persons must go online to register with the OHSAA and pay the fee.
Ironton youth soccer
registrations set in July
The Ironton Area Youth Soccer Association, Inc., registrations for the fall league will be at the Ironton Fire Department, S. 4th and Jefferson Streets., from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays, June 23, and July 7 and 14.
The late fee registration will be Tuesday, July 17, from 5-8:30 p.m. at the Fire Department.
The league is for boys and girls ages 4-to-12 with birthdays between Aug. 1, 2006, to July 31, 2014.
Fee is $25 per youth and $20 for each additional family member. There will be a $5 late fee assessed per player after July 14.
Teams will be for under age 6 (co-ed), under 8 (co-ed), under age 10 and under 12 for boys, and under age 10 and under age 12 for girls.
NOTE: Youths must be registered by a parent or legal guardian.
SP boys’ basketball
camp set for July 9-11
The South Point Pointers’ youth basketball camp will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Wednesday, July 9-11, at the high school for any boys entering grades 1-8.
Camp fee is $30 per youth and $20 for each additional sibling.

Ironton Elks sponsoring
bus trip to Reds game
The Ironton Elks Lodge No. 177 is sponsoring a bus trip to the Cincinnati Reds vs. Philadelphia Phillies game on Saturday, July 29, at Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati.
Fans will leave from the Hills Plaza for the 1 p.m. game. Cost of the trip is $50 each and covers transportation and field box seat along the first base line.
The trip is open to the public and children are welcome. You do not have to be a member of the Elks Lodge to participate.

Annual Jackson 5K run
& walk set for July 4
The 22nd annual Jackson County Freedom Fest 5K Run and Walk will be held on Wednesday, July 4, and will be run through the business district and western residential section of Jackson.
The event will begin at 9 a.m. at Manpower Park on East Main Street, across from the Jackson Square Shopping Center and Krogers, 530 E. Main Street.
Entry fee is $20 for pre-registration at TriStateRacer.com and $25 the day of the race. Proceeds will go toward the sponsoring of community events by the Jackson Area Chamber Of Commerce.
All participating runners will receive newly-designed dry-weave Sports Festival T-shirts. The race will be timed by TriStateRacer.com and the course used has been certified.
Plaques will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers and medals will be given to the top three finishers in all age divisions, outside of those winning plaques, in both the male and female categories.
There will also be a one-mile walk starting simultaneously with the 5K Run. Those wishing to participate in the walk, which has no registration fee, may purchase a T-shirt for $10.
