CINCINNATI — Cincinnati Reds’ top minor league prospect infielder Nick Senzel had surgery on Thursday to reduce the fracture in his right index finger.
Reports say there was no damage to the tendon in that finger.
The surgery was performed in New York by Dr. Thomas Graham.
There is no timetable yet for Senzel’s return to baseball activity. He suffered the injury in last Friday’s game for Class AAA Louisville.
In 44 appearances for the Bats this season, Senzel hit .310 with 12 doubles, two triples, six home runs, 25 runs batted in and eight stolen bases.
When Senzel was injured he ranked fifth in the International League in hitting and finished his season with an active 11-game hitting streak (22-50, .440).
