Five sentenced to prison for drug charges

Five defendants were sentenced to prison on drug charges in Lawrence County Common Pleas Judge Charles Cooper’s courtroom on Wednesday. Drugs also make up the majority of all cases on this week’s common pleas docket.
• Jeremy D. Boll, 37, of 369 Township Road 332, Ironton, pleaded guilty to possession of drugs (methamphetamine), a fifth-degree felony, possession of drug abuse instruments, a second-degree misdemeanor, and kindled fires, a third-degree misdemeanor. In another case, he also admitted community-controlled sanctions (CCS) violations. Cooper sentenced him to eight months in prison.
• Destiny O. Cade, 26, of 631 Ashtabula St., Ironton, previously pleaded guilty to possession of drugs (methamphetamine), a fifth-degree felony. In another case, she pleaded guilty to theft of a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony. Cooper sentenced her to 18 months in prison.
• Audra R. Martin, 46, of 49 County Road 7F, Ironton, previously pleaded guilty to complicity to trafficking in drugs, a fourth-degree felony, and two counts of trafficking in drugs (Oxycodone), both felonies of the fourth-degree. Cooper sentenced her to 30 months in prison.
• Andrew A. McClain, 30, of 411 Walnut St., Ironton, previously pleaded guilty to two counts of trafficking in drugs (methamphetamine), both third-degree felonies. Cooper sentenced him to four years in prison.
• Mitchell Robinson, 37, of 900 D. High St., Coal Grove, previously pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs (methamphetamine, heroin), one second-degree felony and one fifth-degree felony. Cooper sentenced him to three years in prison.
In other cases:
• Danielle M. Hamm, 39, of 91 Township Road 1090, Proctorville, pleaded not guilty to theft of drugs (Tizanidine), a fourth-degree felony, and criminal trespassing, a fourth-degree misdemeanor. Cooper continued bond at $1,000 from lower court. Pretrial was set for June 20.
• Mark Anthony Saxton, 45, of 6663 Strattford Lakes Blvd., Winchester, previously pleaded not guilty to possession of drugs (fentanyl), a fifth-degree felony. In another case, he pleaded not guilty to possession of heroin, also a fifth-degree felony. Cooper set bond at $2,500 cash or surety and $2,500 OR. There was a request to send samples to the lab, and a pretrial date will depend on when results are obtained.
• Stanley D. Bennett Jr., 36, of 4198 County Road 12, Proctorville, pleaded guilty to aggravated possession of drugs (methamphetamine), a fifth-degree felony, and improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony. Judge Andy Ballard sentenced him to four years CCS under (intensive supervised probation) ISP with 17 months reserved, and ordered him to complete STAR, 200 hours community service and pay court costs. A firearm was also forfeited in the case.
• Walter Gipson, 34, of 1304 W. Collins St., Flatwoods, Kentucky, previously pleaded not guilty to tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony, trafficking in drugs (methamphetamine), a fourth-degree felony, and improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, also a fourth-degree felony. He admitted to methamphetamine and heroin use, and Ballard increased his bond to $50,000 cash or surety and $50,000 OR. Pretrial was set for July 18.
• Frederick D. Martin, 35, of 8250 County Road 1, South Point, pleaded not guilty to two counts of trafficking in heroin, one fourth-degree felony and one third-degree felony. Ballard set bond at $45,000 cash or surety and $45,000 OR. Pretrial was set for June 20.
• Robert W. Stevens, 31, of 315 Ridgeway St., Coal Grove, pleaded not guilty to tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony, and possession of drugs (methamphetamine), a fifth-degree felony. Ballard set bond at $1,000 cash or surety and $25,000 OR. Pretrial was set for June 20.
• Terry I. Unrue, 41, of 714 S. 10th St., Apt. A, Ironton, pleaded not guilty to two counts of trafficking in heroin, both fifth-degree felonies. Ballard set bond at $20,000 cash or surety and $20,000 OR. Pretrial was set for June 13.
• Justin Wells, 29, of 164 Township Road 1021, South Point, pleaded not guilty to possession of heroin and aggravated trafficking in heroin, both second-degree felonies. Ballard set bond at $45,000 cash or surety and $45,000 OR. Pretrial was set for June 20.
• Norman L. Fulks II, 42, of 115 Township Road 1111, Proctorville, admitted CCS violations. Ballard sentenced him to four years CCS under (ISP) with 22 months reserved, and ordered him to complete STAR.
• William J. Huskey, 36, of 1107 S. Third St., Ironton, admitted CCS violations. Cooper sentenced him to nine months in prison.
• Magan R. Richmond, 30, of 27 Private Drive 187, Apt. A, South Point, denied CCS violations. Cooper set CCS trial for June 20.
• James D. Wells, 44, of 32 Township Road 1123, Proctorville, previously pleaded not guilty to burglary, a second-degree felony. He rejected the state’s final offer of five years in prison, and is facing a maximum of eight years behind bars if found guilty at trial. Cooper set trial for June 14.
• Joe D. Boles II, 33, of 105 Bowman St., Ironton, admitted CCS violations. Ballard sentenced him to 90 days in jail and ordered him to pay court costs.
• Floyd A. Franklin, 57, listed as homeless, pleaded not guilty to tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony, and vandalism, a felony of the fifth-degree. Ballard set bond at $20,000 cash or surety and $20,000 OR. Pretrial was set for June 20.
• Charles C. Riley, 30, of 203 Township Road 1430, Apt. 3, South Point, pleaded guilty to theft, a fifth-degree felony. Ballard sentenced him to four years CCS under ISP with 11 months reserved, and ordered him to complete STAR and 200 hours community service.
