Cochran, Marshall lead D2 regional qualifiers

ROCKSPRINGS — Step one is complete. Now for step two.
The Division II district track meet wrapped up its second day of competition on Saturday will send several local track runners to the regional meet.
The top four district finishers qualify for the regional meet to be held Thursday and Saturday at Muskingum College in New Concord.
Rock Hill’s Andre Cochran cleared 6-2 to win the high jump. Chesapeake’s Dalton Nida was fifth at 6-foot and Rock Hill’s Cameron Donohue eighth at 5-8.
Nida was third at 15.51 and Rock Hill’s Gage Kidd fourth at 16.09 in the 110-meter hurdles.
In the 100-meter dash, Fairland’s Ty Staten was fourth at 11.25 seconds and Ironton’s Charlie Large fifth at 11.42. Staten was also fourth in the 200 meters at 23.05 seconds.
Fairland’s quartet of Wyatt Morris, Blaine Cremeans, Robbie McFarland and Staten were second in the 4×200 relay at 1:32.87. The same foursome ran in the 4×100 and was third at 45.38.
Rock Hill’s foursome of James Knipp, Parker Knipp, Donohue and Kidd was eighth in the 4×200 at 1:37.43.
Kidd placed fourth in the 300 hurdles with a 41.44 clocking.
The Redmen’s Eli Baker was fourth in the 1600 meters with a 4:34.12 time. Chesapeake’s Gabriel Johnson was eighth at 4:52.73.
The Panthers’ Cecil Fletcher was fourth in the 400 meters with a 52.17 time.
In the 800 meters, Rock Hill’s Victor Aguilera was fifth at 2:01.51 and Chesapeake’s Josh Ramey eighth at 2:06.5.
Rock Hill’s Jasson Aguilera was second in the 3200 meters at 10:08.87. Fairland’s Ethan Lafon was sixth at 10:58.05 and Rock Hill’s Logan Boggs eight at 11:06.63.
Chesapeake’s 4×400 relay team of Fletcher, Johnson, Ramey and Kamren Harless was fourth with a 3:33.33 time.
In the girls’ meet, Fairland’s Allie Marshall won the 200 meters at 26.78 seconds.
Fairland’s Ciarra Brown was fifth in the 100-meter hurdles with a 16.93 time. Teammate Malia Tubbs was sixth in the 100 meters at 13.5 seconds.
Tubbs and Brown teamed with Karli Fuller and Marshall to finish third in the 4×200 relay with a time of 1:52.
Tubbs, Fuller, Taylor Webb and Miaa Howard were eighth in the 4×100 at 55.12. Marshall was eighth in the 800 meters at 2:40.02.
Webb was fourth in the pole vault at 8-6 and teammate Emma Marshall eighth at 8-foot.
The Lady Dragons McKenna Pannell was fourth in the 1600 at 5:37.36 and in the 3200 at 12:23.40. Teammate Deanna Hall was seventh with a 12:38.91 time.
Fairland’s 4×400 team of Brown, Marshall, Fuller and Pannell was eighth at 4:40.23.
South Point’s Alexia Sharp was third in the long jump with a leap of 16-1.
