Redwomen upset Lady Hornets

COAL GROVE — After clinching a share of the Ohio Valley Conference title on Tuesday, the Coal Grove Lady Hornets wanted to win the trophy outright on Wednesday.
The Rock Hill Redwomen decided to change those plans as they upset the Lady Hornets in a 12-9 slugfest.
Rock Hill (12-10, 8-5) had 14 hits in getting the win. Haleigh Rowe went 3-4 with a run batted in to lead the offense. Rileigh Morris was 2-4 with a double and a triple and two RBI.
Kylee Howard got the pitching win and went 2-5 with two RBI, Maddie Harper was 2-4 with two RBi Sam Stamper 2-3 and a double and Taylor Hall 2-4.
Coal Grove had 11 hits with Gracie Riley going 4-4 with a double and an RBI. Kasey Murphy was 2-3 with two RBI, Lauren Meyer 2-3, Jaidyn Griffith 2-5 and Lauren Crum 2-5 with a double and three RBI.
Coal Grove jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning when Riley and Crum doubled and Jaidyn Griffith single.
Rock Hill took a 3-2 lead in the top of the third.
Stamper singled and Morris tripled her home. Kenzie Hanshaw walked and Rowe and Keilie Adams had RBI singles.
Coal Grove tied the game in the bottom of the inning when Riley and Murphy walked and Macy Moore reached on an error.
Rock Hill took the lead for good with five runs in the fourth.
Hall singled, Baylie Harrah and Stamper were hit by pitches, Morris reached on an error, Howard and Harper singled and Rowe hit a sacrifice fly.
The Lady Hornets scored a run in the fourth when Malone reached on an error, Lauren Crum walked and Riley doubled.
The Redwomen answered with two runs in the fifth on walks to Harrah and Morris and singles by Howard and Harper.
Coal Grove got two runs in the sixth on singles by Riley and Murphy singled, Crum doubled and Griffith singled.
Rock Hill added two runs in the seventh when Stamper and Morris doubled for a run and Howard grounded out.
Coal Grove didn’t quit and scored three runs in the bottom of the inning.
Addi Dillow walked, Delaney Napier reached on an error and Meyer, Riley and Murphy all singled.
Rock Hill hosts Fairland on Thursday for senior night.
