Flyers roll past Wildcats

ASHTON, W.Va. — It was clear the bench day for the St. Joseph Flyers.
Coach Greg Bryant was able to play everyone as the Flyers beat the Hannan Wildcats 19-2 in five innings on Monday.
“We got to play a lot of people and we hit the ball up and down the lineup,” said Bryant.
Jimmy Mahlmeister led the Flyers’ 18-hit attack as he went 4-4 with a double.
Isaac Whaley also had a big game going 3-4 with three doubles.
Trae Crabtree was 2-4 with five runs batted in, Chase Walters 2-5 and Clay Willis was 2-4.
The Flyers jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first.
Jackson Rowe walked, stole second, Willis had a sacrifice and Whaley doubled. Walters reached on an error, Crabtree hit a two-run single and Mahlmeister added a two-run single.
Two runs scored in the second. Rowe tripled and Willis singled for a run and Willis later scored on an error.
The lead went to 11-1 in the third when Jacob Salisbury, Mahlmeister and Whaley all doubled and Walters had an RBI single.
In a four-run fourth, Brycen Canter, Crabtree, Izsak Unger, J.C. Damron and Mahlmeister all singled to key the rally.
The Flyers added five runs in the fifth as Canter reached on an error, Whaley and Walters doubled and Mahlmeister had his fourth hit.
The Flyers host Fairland on Tuesday.
