The Rock Hill National Little League (RHNLL) is kicking off its 27th season on Friday with Opening Day festivities at the Rock Hill National Little League fields.
The community event will be from 5:30-9 p.m. and will feature free hot dogs, chips, pop and popcorn, inflatables, baseball and softball games, inflatables and more.
From 6-6:30 p.m., there will be an introduction of the teams, a balloon release and introductions of sponsors, including Hometown Certified Preowned, of Ironton, in which a softball field will be dedicated.
“We at Rock Hill National Little League strive to offer a quality baseball program that emphasizes participation by all, including the board, coaches, players and parents, skill development, sportsmanship and fun in a whole, supportive environment,” RHNNL President Crystal Pauly said. “Rock Hill National Little League is also dedicated to providing a safe environment for those participating in youth sports programs.”
Chris Sammons, a member of the RHNLL Board, said that this year the board is really trying to make Opening Day and this whole season about the kids.
“This year our board decided it was time to take our little league program to the next level. Our board is planning on putting on several events during the 2018 baseball season, including a community day on June 3 or 4 that we will be announcing events for at a later time,” he said. “We are also in the process of doing major upgrades to the little league facilities, including remodeling the softball concessions stand, restrooms, as well as updating all of our fields and batting cages, and repainting the field fencing. That, we plan to fully showcase during the community day.”
The Rock Hill National Little League fields are located at 2676 County Road 26 in Ironton.
