Before the season, coach Doug Graham said this Lexie Arden girl was pretty good.
Understatement.
The 5-foot-10 sophomore scored a career-high 33 points in three quarters as the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers beat the Rock Hill Redwomen 63-37 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Thursday.
Arden scored 20 of her points in the first half as Ironton took a 30-point lead.
Lexi Wise also scored in double figures for the Lady Tigers with 12 points who are now 13-4 overall and 8-3 in the OVC.
Rock Hill (3-11, 0-9) was led by Maddie Scott with 13 points. Makenzie Hanshaw added seven.
Ironton took a 17-6 first quarter lead as Arden scored eight points and Wise had five. Scott scored all of Rock Hill’s points.
It was Arden again in the second quarter with the hot hand as she hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored 12 points. Riley Schreck added a trifecta and Lydia Hannan scored all three of her points in the quarter.
Arden scored 11 of Ironton’s 19 points in the third quarter with Haylee Stevens getting all four of her points and the lead grew to 59-18.
Scott had four points for the Redwomen.
Rock Hill outscored Ironton 19-4 in the fourth quarter. Hanshaw scored five points, Ryleigh Morris and Scott three each and Kyleigh Noel hit a 3-pointer for the Redwomen.
Lilly Zornes scored all four of Ironton’s points.
On Monday, Ironton hosts Chesapeake and Rock Hill visits Coal Grove.
