Panthers pick up first win

CHESAPEAKE — This is a learning season for the young Chesapeake Panthers.
They may be fast learners.
The Panthers got their first win of the season as they got past the Rock Hill Redmen 43-34 in an Ohio Valley Conference game last Friday.
Five different players scored as Chesapeake was up 10-4 at the end of the first quarter.
Cole Mills hit a 3-pointer and Eli Archer had three points as the Panthers went up 21-13 at the half. Kaden France scored four points for the Redmen.
Tyler Hutchson scored nine points including a 3-pointer as the Panthers took a 33-22 at the end of the third quarter. Braden Stamper had four points and France three more for Rock Hill.
Rock Hill managed outscore the Panthers 12-10 in the fourth quarter as Garrett Miller and Michael Rowe each hit 3-pointers, but Archer and Hutchson had four points each to help give the Panthers their first win.
Hutchson had a game-high 17 points and Archer scored 12 points to lead the Panthers (1-3, 1-1).
France scored nine points to lead the Redmen (0-5, 0-2) who had 10 different players in the scoring column.
Chesapeake hosts Huntington St. Joe on Tuesday. Rock Hill hosts Symmes Valley on Dec. 29.
