Freda Carpenter

Nov. 15, 1931 — Dec. 15, 2017

Freda Faye Carpenter, 86, of Coal Grove, Ohio passed away peacefully with her family by her side, Friday, Dec. 15, 2017 at a local nursing home facility. Mrs. Carpenter was born Nov. 15, 1931, in Pedro, a daughter to the late Jake and Margaret (Hieronimus) Barnhart.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ronald “Ronnie” Carpenter, who passed away Jan. 1, 2011.
Mrs. Carpenter was a 1949 graduate of Ironton High School. She was a retired cook for Dawson Bryant Local School District. Freda was a life long faithful and active member of Sugar Creek Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry D. Barnhart, and a grandson, Scott Michael Carpenter.
She is survived by three sons, Phil (Jeanette) Carpenter, of Coal Grove,Jeff (Josette) Carpenter, of Powder Springs, Georgia, and Brian (Pam) Carpenter of, Deering; a
daughter, Brenda (Mike) Sherman of Ashland, Kentucky; two sisters-in-law, Beverly Barnhart, of Kitts Hill, and Linda Carpenter, of Ironton; 10 grandchildren, Deana (Aaron) Childers, Amy (Eric) DePriest, Angie (Mitch) Crum, Brandon (Brittany) Daniels, Mason Daniels, Michelle Bendiburg,  Logan, Brianna, Patrick and Jacob Carpenter; seven great grandchildren: A.J., Adam and Alex Childers, Leah (Austin) Clark, Lauren Crum, Alivia DePriest, and Fynn Daniels.
Freda was also looking forward to the arrival of two new family members, a great granddaughter, Piper Lee Daniels, and her first great great grandchild, Coalton Dakota Clark.
The Carpenter family would like to extend a special heartfelt thank you for all the exceptional loving care Freda received from Janet Hanshaw, Sherry Adkins, Danielle Wray, the wonderful staff at Heartland of Riverview and Heartland Hospice.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, 518 S. 6th Street, Ironton, with pastors Mike Long and Aaron Childers officiating.  Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens. Reba Bowman

June 10, 1938 — Dec. 14, 2017

Reba Jean Bowman, 79 of South Point, passed away Saturday, Dec. 14, 2017 at Pleasant Hill Manor in Piketon. The Huntington, West Virginia native was born June 10, 1938, the daughter of the late Roscoe and Ollie Mae Turley Backus.
Reba Jean was a 1958 graduate of Coal Grove High School and a homemaker. She loved cooking, visiting family and friends around the holidays, and spending quality time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Tamatha Kay Maynard and Julie Hall; a granddaughter, Sonja Rae Miller, a brother, George Edward Backus; and a sister, Shirley Mae (Backus) Hudson
Reba is survived by her husband of 56 and a half  years, Phillip Vernon Bowman Sr., whom she married April 29, 1961. In addition to her husband, she is also survived by a daughter, Carla Jean Miller of Ironton; two sons, Phillip Vernon (Sheila) Bowman Jr., of Coal Grove, and Donald Bowman, of South Point; as well as 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. Seventh Street, Ironton, with Dr. Scott Mann officiating. Burial will follow in Haverhill Cemetery.
