CHILLICOTHE — As part of the Ohio Department of Transportation – District 9’s Planning and Engineering Department, the district’s Environmental Office is seeking public input for a rockfall remediation project on state Route 7 in Lawrence County.
It is proposed to perform rock slope maintenance at the 0.66-mile marker on S.R. 7 along the westbound lanes. The site is situated north (east) of C.R. 15 (Buffalo Creek Road) near Chesapeake in Union Township, and the project also includes pavement repair, barrier construction and drainage repairs.
The project will require approximately 11.91 acres of permanent right of way; however, no homes or businesses will be removed as a result of the project, and no streams will be affected. A contract is scheduled to be awarded in the fall of 2018, and single-lane closures may be required throughout construction or during some phases of the project.
Additional information, including a complete description, maps and plans sheets, is available online at www.dot.state.oh.us/districts/D09/Pages/Public-Involvement-Process.aspx. Issues the public may wish to comment on include the effect on local residents, air quality, local economy, and historic or cultural resources.
Written comments should be submitted by Dec. 6, or the deadline date that is posted on the web site, to: Greg Manson, ODOT District 9 Environmental Supervisor, P.O. Box 467; 650 Eastern Avenue, Chillicothe, Ohio 45601 or email, greg.manson@dot.state.oh.us
