Sheriff, CPS investigating case
An employee with Rock Hill schools has been placed on administrative leave, pending an investigation.
School superintendent Wes Hairston said the employee was notified Monday night and the leave began Tuesday.
“I put an employee on administrative leave and we have contacted the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office and Child Protective Services to investigate an accusation made,” he said. “This is not to assume or presume innocence or guilt. We are going through an investigation.”
Hairston did not disclose the identity or position of the employee.
Sheriff Jeff Lawless confirmed his office is working on the case.
“The board of education contacted us on Monday, about an allegation of an impropriety between an employee and a student,” he said. “We began investigating today to see if there’s any validity to it.”
Lawless said the investigation is in its early stages and he is not at liberty to disclose specifics at this time.
