Jay Rice
June 26, 1966 — Sept. 6, 2017
Jay Kevin Rice, of Warsaw, Indiana, passed away at 10:40 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017, at Kosciusko Community Hospital of Warsaw at the age of 51. He was born June 26, 1966, in Ashland, Kentucky, to Ella Ruth (Taylor) and Cecil Hager Rice. On Oct. 28, 1988, he was married to Patricia Ann Conkle, who survives.
Jay graduated from South Point High School in South Point in 1984. He moved to Warsaw in 1987 and worked at Dalton Foundries in Warsaw for 15 years. In 2005, he began working at Chore-Time Brock International in Milford, Indiana. He worked as a machine operator until his retirement due to illness. Jay loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, camping and canoeing. He was a resident of Kosciusko County, Indiana for the past 30 years, and during his lifetime, he met many people and will be missed dearly by his co-workers, friends and beloved family.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 28 years, Patricia Ann Rice, of Warsaw, Indiana; two brothers, Mark Rice and Kenneth (Tracy) Rice, both of Warsaw, Indiana; and two sisters, Sharon Farren and Susan Bickles, both of South Point.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, David and Everett; and his sister, Gloria.
Visitation was 3-5 p.m. Sunday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw, Indiana. A graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point, and officiated by the Rev. Thomas Pinkerman
March 22, 1961 — Sept. 9, 2017
Thomas “Tommy” Joseph Pinkerman, 56, of Wheelersburg, passed away Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017, at a local health care facility. The Lawrence County native was born March 22, 1961, a son of the late Ira Pinkerman and Mary Elisabeth Rice Johnson.
Tommy was a 1979 graduate of Rock Hill High School and a U.S. Navy veteran. He was an avid golfer and member of the Ironton Country Club. Tommy coached sports for the Rock Hill, Pedro and Coal Grove youth football and basketball programs for over 27 years, and was also a sports official for over 25 years. Tommy was a retired mechanic of CSX Railroad .
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Ray Pinkerman.
He is survived by a daughter, Carleigh Elisabeth Pinkerman; two stepdaughters, Lauren Monnig and Alison Parker; one stepson, Lane Wilson; sisters, Paula Hart, Judy Littleton, Melinda Johnson, Melissa Johnson, Lois Ann Pinkerman, Trina Pulver, Jennifer Sweeney and Helen Ferguson; a brother, Paul Johnson Jr.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with the Revs. Larry Lavender and Matt O’Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in Community Cemetery and visitation for Tommy will be 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Naomi Chapman
Naomi Jean Chapman, 85, of Proctorville, died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017, at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, West Virginia.
A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, West Virginia, with pastor Peter Barclay officiating. Entombment will follow. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville. Otis Jenkins
Otis Lee “Hop Toad” Jenkins, 75, of Ironton, died Friday, Sept. 8, 2017, at the St. Mary’s Medical Center Ironton Campus. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Abrams Jenkins.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday in the chapel of the Brown Funeral Chapel, Ironton, with the Rev. Jeff Cremeans officiating. Aaron William Black, 20, of Huntington, West Virginia, died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017, at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, West Virginia.
Funeral service will be noon Thursday at 16th Street Baptist Church, Huntington, West Virginia. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Greenup, Kentucky.
