St. Mary’s ER Ironton has been open five years, and to celebrate, a community event was hosted Friday afternoon inside of its old helicopter hangar.
“For the past five years, the community has been great,” Angela Henley, clinical operations manager at St. Mary’s ER Ironton, said. “We’ve had close to 90,000 visits and we want to continue to grow. And we want to recognize the community for their continued support.”
The event featured hot dogs, chips, cake, refreshments and the opportunity to win Ohio State, Oklahoma football tickets as well as other donated prizes, and coupons for free wellness checks, worth $25, were given away. An inflatable bouncy house was set up outside the hangar for the children to enjoy as well.
“I was blessed to get the opportunity with St. Mary’s to build this location with the local leaders and the St. Mary’s advisory board,” Paul Lageman, St. Mary’s director of emergency and trauma services, said. “This reinforces our commitment to Lawrence County and the surrounding areas.”
The event lasted from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, and Henley said the winner of the football tickets would most likely be drawn on Monday.
“The community has been a blessing for us,” Lageman said. “And hopefully we can continue to be a blessing for them.”
