Virginia Hughes
Aug. 31, 1944 — July 3, 2017
Virginia Lee Hughes, 72, of South Point, passed away Monday, July 3, 2017, at King’s Daughters Medical Center, Ashland, Kentucky. Mrs. Hughes was born Aug. 31, 1944, in McArthur, a daughter to the late Marvin and Nellie Elizabeth (Barnhart) Dutcher.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, James “Bimbo” Hughes, who passed away May 6, 2012.
Mrs. Hughes was a graduate of Grove Port Madison High School. She was a homemaker and a member of the FHA. She was of the Pentecostal faith.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by son, Donald (Scooter) Hughes; three brothers, Marvin “Bud” Dutcher, Charles “Fred” Dutcher and Michael Dutcher; and two sisters, Gladys “Sue” Mercer and Barbara “Barb” Hunley.
She is survived by daughter, Brandi Hughes, of Ironton; son, James (Melissa) Hughes, of South Point; two sisters, Eldora Ingles and Dianna Gilkerson, both of Pickerington; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with pastor Brian Taylor officiating. Visitation will be noon until time of the service Saturday at the funeral home. To offer the Hughes family online condolences, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.

Darrell Eugene Blake, Jr., 39, of Chesapeake, died Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville. Burial will follow in Miller Memorial Gardens, Miller.
