An electrical outage left thousands without power on Tuesday.

According to a report from AEP, Ironton and Goal Grove had 3,651 houses and businesses with out electric and Kitts Hill had 459.

According to AEP, the outage was due to a couple lines being down after being hit by lightning. The problem was located somewhere in the vicinity around the transmission substation near Scioto Avenue and Hogsett Hollow in Hanging Rock.

AEP crews were out trying to fix the problem and to transfer an alternative energy source to get as many customers as possible back on line.

An AEP spokesperson said no additional information was available as of 4 p.m.
