A day at the lake fishing, soaking in the sun and a crisp warm breeze is something many would call an ideal day.

However, for many with physical restrictions or special needs, the simple things like fishing or simply leaving the house can be a daunting task.

That is why events like the Wheelin’ Sportsmen and the Special Needs Youth Sportsmen fishing activities are extremely valuable to our county and region.

Any and all with physical limitations or other special needs can enjoy a day casting out in hopes of hooking a big fish.

We applaud the efforts of all those involved in making these events happen each year because it provides a wonderful experience for those attendees from around Lawrence County.

Unfortunately, physical limitations and special needs, all too often, keep many from even trying.

Events like these allow those individuals and families to go beyond the limits they may have even thought possible.

Watching events like these flourish each year while seeing the joy on the organizers and participants faces is simply something that cannot be measured on a weight scale.
