Phyllis Barker
Phyllis Irene Barker, 80, of Ironton, passed away Thursday, May 25, 2017, at Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, Kentucky. She was born March 28, 1937, in Ironton, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Hazel Massie Vanderhoof.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack L. Barker; two sons, William L. Barker and Donald S. Barker; a daughter, Rhonda Barker Kidd; a grandchild, Kimberley Barker; a sister, Linda Vanderhoof Fugett; and a brother, Gordon Vanderhoof.
Phyllis was a graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School and attended Kelly’s Bridge Independent Baptist Church. Survivors include a sister, Edna Dillow, of Coal Grove; twenty grandchildren, William (Sarah) Barker, Scott (Angie) Barker, Derrick Barker, Brooke (Dakotah) Schuler, Amber Barker, B.J. (Morgan) Barker, Ethan Barker, Halee Barker, Madison Barker, D.J. Barker, Holee Barker, Michael Barker, Kendall Barker, Mike (Tracie) Kidd, Amanda Kidd, Leah Kidd, Chaz Salyers, Craig Salyers, Chase Salyers, Savannah Salyers, Rachael Salyers, and Maddie Salyers; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and longtime family friends, April Cade and Carrie Payne.
Funeral services will be at noon Wednesday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home in South Point with Rev. Roger Friend officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. William “Bill” Rupert Easterling, Jr., 79, of South Point died Friday, May 26, 2017, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington. Private family services will be held.

Ala Mae Moore, 86, of Proctorville, died Saturday, May 27, 2017, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington. She is survived by her husband Noel Berkley Moore.

Gary Blankenship
Gary Lee Blankenship, 64, of Portsmouth died Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at the Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth.
Funeral Services will be at 1 p.m. today in the Mountain Assembly Church of God Church located at 3417 Gallia Street in New Boston with Rev Brian Holbrook officiating.
Burial will be at the Mullens- Osborne Cemetery in the Buck Hollow section of South Shore, Kentucky, with Military grave site rights conducted by the Kenova American Legion and the U. S. Army burial detail.

Joyce Stevens
Joyce Ann Stevens, 72, of South Point passed away Saturday, May 27, 2017, at Heartland of Riverview.
She was born Aug. 24, 1944, in Huntington, West Virginia, a daughter of the late John W. Thornton, Erma Maxine Lindsey and step-father, John W. Lindsey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard B. Stevens; a granddaughter, Kylie Stevens and a Daughter-in-law, Stephanie Stevens. Joyce attended First Baptist Church in Russell, Kentucky.
She is survived by her children, Deborah Ann Stevens, of Mooresville, North Carolina and Michael Todd Stevens, of South Point; a sister, Sondra Gail Dawson, of Proctorville; three brothers, John W. (Leslie) Thornton, of Sevierville, Tennessee; Ken W. (Sheri) Lindsey, of Allen, Texas and Karl (Melanie) Lindsey, of Greenup, Kentucky; one grandchild, Bryce Stevens.
