During the retirement party of Hemi, the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office K-9, Sheriff Jeff Lawless announced that a former K-9 of the sheriff’s office, Max, will be inducted into the Ohio Police K-9 Memorial, which will be located on Ohio 125 in the village of Amelia.

Max served the county for many years with his handler, Deputy Randy Rogers, who tragically passed away in April of 2015. Max was retired shortly thereafter, before he passed away last year.

Lawless said he received a letter from the Ohio K-9 Memorial, letting him know that Max had been inducted.

Lawless presented Debbie Rogers, Randy’s wife who took care of the dog after his death, with a certificate of remembrance signifying that Max will forever be honored with a place upon the Ohio Police K-9 Memorial, signed by Ohio Police K-9 Memorial President Craig Heintzelman.

Walter and Joyce Burrows sponsored Max’s induction to the memorial.
