James Nicely
Dec. 1, 1946 — May 20, 2017
James H. Nicely, at the age of 70 in South Point, passed away in his home on May 20, 2017. He was born Dec. 1, 1946, in Huntington, West Virginia.
He graduated South Point High School in 1965, where he played football and drums. He was a retired operator for Armco steel, a faithful giver of multiple charities and a member of Abundant Life Baptist Church. His hobbies included reading his Bible, shopping, gardening, watching Ohio State Football and playing with his great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Gertrude (Adkins) Nicely; a brother, Jerry Nicely; a sister, Judith (Nicely) Truesdell; a nephew, Michael Truesdell; and a grandson, Richard Ruggles.
James is survived by his brother, Terry Nicely (Debbie); loving daughter and son, Angela (Nicely) Ruggles and James Nicely (Michelle); grandchildren, Joseph (Lindsey) Ruggles, Tyler Ruggles, JR Nicely, Darian Nicely; great-grandchildren, Payton Ruggles, Caylee Ruggles and Maverick Ruggles; a multitude of nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Shirley Porter.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, with pastor Kenny Estep officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. James Jackson Sr.
James Alexander Jackson Sr., 75, of South Point, died Sunday, May 21, 2017, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia. He is survived by his wife, Betty Ann Jackson.

Phillip McFarland
Phillip Destin McFarland, 26, of Coal Grove, died Sunday, April 30, 2017, at Cabell-Huntington Hospital, Huntington, West Virginia.
Memorial service will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Memorial United Methodist Church, Coal Grove. Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, is assisting the family with arrangements.
