FRANKLIN FURNACE — The Green Bobcat took a day off from the Southern Ohio Conference Div. I schedule, but they didn’t take a day off from winning.
Green improved to 11-3 with an 8-4 win over the South Webster Jeeps on Tuesday.
“That was a big win for us. Tayte Carver pitched a heck of a game for us, we got some big timely hits and we made some nice plays defensively. We played well all around,” said Green coach Dan McDavid.
Carver gave up nine hits, struck out seven and walked just two as he went the distance for the win.
The Jeeps took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first and Green came back to get two in the bottom of the inning.
Tanner Kimbler walked and Tyler Darnell doubled. An out later, Trevor Carver singled home a run and the second run scored when Bryce Ponn grounded out.
The Bobcat then exploded for six run in the second.
Hayden Whitis started the inning with a single and Rylee Maynard put down a sacrifice bunt and was safe on an error. Chase Clark beat out a bunt to load the bases.
Kimbler put Green ahead for good with a two-run single and Darnell beat out an infield hit to load the bases.
Trevor Darnell came through with a two-run single and it was 6-3. After a wild pitch, Drew Ramey followed with his own two-run single.
South Webster got a run in the fifth and it was 8-4.
The Jeeps threatened in the seventh when Alek Blevins, Shane Zimmerman and Trevor Coriell all singled to load the bases.
But Tayte Carver got a strikeout, a pop out and a ground out to end the game.
Green visits Sciotoville East on Wednesday.
