PORTSMOUTH — Alfred Hitchcock couldn’t have directed a movie with this type of horror.
The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings had a nightmare game as they gave up seven unearned runs in a 10-3 Southern Ohio Conference loss to the Portsmouth Notre Dame Lady Titans on Monday.
“We didn’t hit the ball and we made too many errors,” said Lady Vikings’ coach Jeff “Odie” Estep. “You can’t strike out 10 times or make six errors and expect to win.”
Notre Dame scored four unearned runs in the first and three of their six runs in the fourth inning were unearned.
The Lady Vikings’ Hannah Newcomb hit a leadoff home run in the second to make it 4-1.
Symmes Valley got within 4-3 in the top of the third.
Rachael Hayes tripled and Taylor Webb singled to start the inning. Newcomb then doubled home both runners.
Newcomb went 2-2 with three RBI, a double and a home run. Webb was 3-4.
